• The Crime & Policing Act 2026 became law on 29/4/26. We are preparing a guide to the sections that effect protest. Meanwhile none of the sections affecting protest (except one) are in effect. (They will only come into effect when the secretary of state makes an order – there is no date for this.) The exception is S.164 allowing police to place restrictions on a march or assembly (S.12/S.14) if it is near a place of worship, coming into effect on 29/6/26.
